Every part of human body is important because every part, no matter how small, plays a very important role. This includes your thyroid gland. It is an important gland that needs to be taken care of in order to function well. When your thyroid gland is happy, your entire body is happy.

If you find yourself experiencing weight gain, low energy level, low appetite, chills or a persistent bad mood, it may mean you have a thyroid issue. If that is the case, one of the best things you can do to take good care of your thyroid gland is by eating the right food. Eating right can go a long way toward helping boost the functions of your thyroid. Here are a few foods that will support your thyroid function and boost your energy.

Eggs

Eggs have long been considered one of those perfect foods, especially in terms of balancing hormones through diet. Eggs provide concentrated thyroid-supporting source building blocks such as fat-soluble vitamins, minerals, protein, B vitamins and cholesterol. Despite popular belief, it is actually the yolks, not the whites, that are the most nutritious part.

Fish

One of the highest quality sources of healthy fat is fish. Fish is lean protein and rich in vitamins, magnesium, selenium and amino acids. These are all important to the health of your thyroid gland. If you are worried about getting much selenium, add some Brazil nuts to your diet. The selenium content in fish is low enough that it should not cause you any problems.

Coconut Oil

Another important food to consider for maintaining the good health of your thyroid gland is coconut oil. It is about two-thirds MCTs, or medium chain triglyceride, fatty acids, which are absorbed directly into the bloodstreams in the intestine and used for energy. Since increased thyroid function is typically synonymous with increased metabolism, coconut oil is one of the best foods for maximizing your thyroid function.

Leafy Greens

Another great source of nutrients that can help repair your thyroid gland is leafy greens. They contain Vitamins A and K, both of which are essential to maintaining the healthy functioning of your thyroid gland. Spinach, herb mixes, kale, romaine, arugula, collards, and spring greens are just some of the best choices for leafy greens.
